Italian architect Stefano Boeri has a love for incorporating trees and nature into his designs and his latest apartment tower in Lausanne, Switzerland, will be a world first. At 117m-tall (384ft) the 36 story apartment will be the first ever to be covered in evergreen trees and will be appropriately named “La Tour des Cedres” (The Tower of Cedars).
In total there are 100 trees, 6,000 shrubs and 18,000 plants spread over nearly 3,000 square meters of space. All of the plants will protect the apartments from noise pollution and harsh winds whilst improving the view for residents by breaking up an otherwise concrete and monochrome view of the surrounding city.
