3D printing is a relatively new but still well known field. The idea is simple, if you can print something on paper in 2D then why not make a printer that can use plastic and create 3D models? But did you ever image that you could one day print food? This revelatory idea comes from a company called 3D Systems, and it’s amazingly innovative, beautiful and delicious.
The printer uses sugar, water and alcohol to form complex and delicate creations, and just about any kind of flavor and color can be added.
While these food printers are still new technology and cost about $5,000 – $10,000 US, they will no doubt become cheaper in the near future, and I think demand will be high. In a few years we might find ourselves saying things like "Dessert is in the printer!".
